Want to take some time off to enjoy some of Mother Nature's wonders? Want to learn something about how the natural world works? Want to make a contribution to helping Mother Nature survive a little longer? Then perhaps an eco-adventure is just the thing for you. It's the closest thing to paying to work that you will ever do but have plenty of fun doing it. You will also come away from the experience having learned so much with a feeling of immense satisfaction.
What is an Eco Adventure?
Ecosystems exist everywhere in the world. Some are very hearty, others are very delicate. Sometimes both can be very fragile and we can be in danger of losing them. The trouble is that when these delicate systems lose, we all lose. That is the point of an eco adventure, to make participants aware of what is happening with certain systems around the world and learning what they can do to save them. Put simply, if you are looking for a vacation in an exotic place where there are marble covered bathrooms, soft terry robes for you to enjoy and shopping, eco adventuring is not what you are looking for. Eco adventuring is getting your hands dirty, probably as dirty as they have ever been, and feeling like you have made the world a better place in the process.
Getting Your Hands Dirty
Eco adventuring is available nearly everywhere, from Telluride to Ecuador. You might find yourself ziplining through the jungle treetops one day, studying the decimation of ants on the forest floor the next. You might spend one night in the luxury of a Hilton, then spread out your ground cloth and sleeping bag on the jungle floor the next. But what can be assured is that not only will you learn more than you ever did in any classroom, but you will have the time of your life doing it.
Saving the earth isn't a game, it's a matter of survival. When you're engaged in an eco adventure, chances are good that you will have so much fun and feel like you have contributed to saving a small part of earth. Even better, you will come away from your eco adventure experience having made friends that you will probably treasure forever and appreciate the knowledge gained that will help you make the world a better place.
